Cardboard is lighter, printable, and replaceable. Sisal is firmer and better for a tall stretch. Petaful makes only the corrugated side.
Cardboard
It is light, printable, and replaceable. Cats that like to tear a face often prefer it. Pads, lounges, houses, and flat-pack posts ship at a lower volume when the structure allows nesting. Petaful makes this side of the comparison in Longgang District, Shenzhen, from recyclable board bonded with corn starch glue.
A corrugated post has a wide base and a replaceable core. It is the cardboard option beside a sisal post, for a stretch in a small retail footprint. It is not a copy of a rope-wrapped condo. Holiday print sits on the board, which is why seasonal houses and tree-shaped wall pads are a cardboard job.
Sisal
Sisal is firmer. It suits a tall stretch and a cat that wants resistance more than shredding. It is heavier to freight and harder to print as a seasonal graphic. This factory does not make sisal posts. If a line needs that feel, source it separately and keep the cardboard pads, lounges, and houses here.
How buyers usually split a line
Cardboard for the pad, the lounge, the holiday house, and the refill core. A sisal post where the catalog still needs a vertical tree. Flute choice for the cardboard pieces is on materials: BC for a lounge or a house, B for a pad, E when the face is mostly print. Official samples of the corrugated pieces are usually ready in 5–7 days after the artwork is agreed.
What not to copy from a sisal listing
Do not describe a corrugated post as sisal rope. Say it is a cardboard scratcher with a replaceable core and a wide base. Do not promise the same hand-feel. Cats that want to shred a face often take to corrugated board. Cats that want a long, firm, vertical stretch often still want sisal. A buyer can carry both without asking this factory to make the rope.
Freight is the other split. Corrugated pieces can ship flat or nested when the shape allows it. Sisal trees usually cannot. That is why a holiday house, a lounge, and a refill core are easier to put on an Amazon or retail program from our factory. If the line still needs a tall sisal tree, keep it as a separate supplier and keep the printable, replaceable pieces here. OEM follows your drawing in 30–45 days including logistics. ODM starts from a mold in 45–60 days including logistics.
Questions
Which one makes less mess?
Both shed something. Cardboard flakes when it is thin or damp. A denser flute and a finished edge keep that down. Sample the density instead of arguing from a catalog photo.
Can cardboard take a vertical scratch?
Yes, on a post, a wall pad, or a folded screen. It will not feel like sisal rope. Say which behavior you are designing for.
