Corrugated board and flute for cat furniture

Board

Name the flute with the piece, not after the run is cut.

A lounge sample uses BC flute so the seat stays firm. A printed holiday face uses E flute so the artwork stays sharp.

  • Rows of kraft rolls standing ready, the core material behind Petaful's corrugated cat furniture.

    Recyclable board

ZB-0177 shows the board: one house, four ways to stand it.

  • Makers gluing white corrugated panels into scratcher structures on a long, well-lit assembly bench.

    Replaceable panel

ZB-0094 keeps the frame. The inner panel is the reorder.

  • Film being laid onto a printed sheet for a cleaner surface and sharper cat artwork.

    A face for print

E-flute is the fine face for seasonal and holiday artwork. A film can be laid on the printed sheet.

  • In-house crush tester checking corrugated board strength before that board becomes a scratcher.

    Checked before cutting

An in-house crush tester checks the board before it becomes a scratcher. Density is confirmed in the sample.

  • Kraft and white paper rolls in covered storage, kept dry for a clean face on the next scratcher run.

    Covered rolls

Kraft and white rolls stay dry for a clean face on the next run.

  • Deep reserves of corrugated sheet on color-coded pallets, staged so the line never waits on board.

    Sheet staged

Corrugated sheet waits on pallets so the line is not short of board.

  • Sheet stacks and paper rolls held in one store, so printing and converting pull from the same stock.

    One store

Sheet and rolls sit together, so print and converting pull the same stock.

  • Sheet pallets waiting under the warehouse roof, buffered for the next die-cut and print schedule.

    Waiting for the schedule

Sheet pallets stay under the roof until the next die-cut and print run.

Flute

BC, B, or E — the same matrix as the product list

Ask for the flute in the brief. This table is the one buyers already see on the catalog.

Flute Board feel Best for
BC-flute (double wall) High-density, thicker stack Lounges, houses, high-use scratch zones
B-flute (single wall) Medium–high density Flat pads, replaceable cores, modular kits
E-flute (fine surface) Fine surface for print Seasonal prints, graphic pads, laminate faces

Ask for BC-flute when the piece is a lounge, a house, or a high-use scratch zone. B-flute is the usual board for flat pads, replaceable cores, and modular kits. E-flute is the face when holiday artwork is the selling point. Pair a fine print face with a denser core when claws are heavy. Litter boxes and toys are not locked to one flute. Density is matched in sampling.

Laminated, proved, and bonded

The flute is named in the sample. These are the stocks and the face around that choice.

  • Corrugated board moving through the laminator for a smooth, print-ready face on cat furniture.

    Onto the core

Board moves through the laminator for a smooth, print-ready face.

  • An operator at the sheet laminator controls, bonding a face onto board for cat furniture.

    At the controls

An operator runs the sheet laminator so the face bonds flat.

  • Laminator running a printed scratcher sheet, locking the artwork onto the corrugated core.

    Artwork locked on

A printed scratcher sheet runs through so the art stays on the core.

  • Operators feeding the laminator so printed faces bond flat onto corrugated scratcher board.

    Fed flat

Operators feed printed faces onto the corrugated board.

  • An operator pulling a proof sheet from the wide-format printer before scratcher artwork is approved.

    A proof sheet

Wide-format proofing checks the artwork before it is treated as final.

  • A kraft roll feeding the corrugated line, the raw face behind sturdy scratchers and lounges.

    Roll into the line

A kraft roll feeds the corrugated line behind the scratcher board.

  • Laminator with a film roll ready to lay a smooth face over corrugated board.

    Film on the roll

A film roll is ready to lay a smoother face over the board.

  • Sheet laminator bonding decorative faces to board with an even adhesive laydown.

    Face to board

The sheet laminator bonds a decorative face with an even laydown.

Flute and certified board

Short answers buyers copy into a sourcing note. The first sentence of each answer is the conclusion.

Which flute should I ask for?

Ask for BC flute on a lounge, a house, or a hard scratch zone. Ask for B flute on flat pads, refill cores, and modular kits. Ask for E flute when the print is what sells the item. The table is on materials.

What glue holds the corrugated board?

The structure sample names the flute, not a glue brand. A lounge uses BC so the seat stays firm. A printed face uses E so the art stays sharp. See materials.

Is every piece the same density?

No. Density is matched on the sample. A fine print face can sit on a harder core when the cat scratches hard, so a pad, a house, and a toy will not share one board. Settle it on the materials sample.

Can the board be FSC-certified?

Yes, when the brief asks for chain of custody. Petaful calls a SKU FSC only when that board is in the order. Open the scan from certificates.

What is BC flute used for?

BC flute is the usual start for lounges, houses, and scratch zones that take heavy use. Confirm it on the sample before print. B and E sit beside it on materials.

What is B flute used for?

B flute suits flat pads, refill cores, and modular kits. It is lighter than a BC lounge and still a proper scratch face. Thickness is checked on the sample before any print. Notes are on materials.

What is E flute used for?

E flute is the printed face, especially holiday artwork. It is not the core of a house that gets heavy scratching. When you need a sharp print and a hard scratch zone, pair them on the sample. The guide is on materials.

Are litter boxes and toys locked to one flute?

No. Flute for litter boxes and toys is chosen on the sample from how the item is used. Send the market and the packed size with the brief. Litter boxes are here: litter boxes.

We match BC, B, or E flute in the structure sample. FSC-certified board is available when the program specifies it.
